What is ECP Therapy?
Enhanced External Counterpulsation (ECP) is a non-invasive treatment designed to improve blood flow to the heart, often recommended for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) who want to reduce symptoms like chest pain and shortness of breath without surgery. The therapy uses inflatable cuffs wrapped around the legs and lower body, which gently inflate and deflate in sync with the heartbeat, pushing blood back toward the heart. This process improves circulation, reduces the workload on the heart, and can stimulate the formation of new small blood vessels, known as collateral circulation.
